Song of Water
Nikoletta Nousiopoulos

I wanted the stone
archipelago
wanted it badly
mists, vapors

went outstole orange
mollusks &
marine slugs

must have tasted colossal
squid
must have been blue-
ringed

but fear of swimming
octopus
at night
black water
shellfish knivesred
water

every so often broken
glass
sea-silk & white sand
Retsina on lusting lips

little girls on the beach
eating
watermelon
blossoming

I believe in thousands of
water gods
Ithakan pearls
