Two Poems
John Burgess

Samples: Herman Melville, Moby Dick

Methinks we have mistaken
Methinks this matter
Methinks my body
Methinks faith a jackal
Methinks things are not
Without their meaning
As if each silence
Insular & incommunicable
Wrapping myself in
Cloth called bearskin.

Input: photograph of Rimbaud at Harar

A ghost a
Reluctant angel
Looks directly
Arms crossed
Cropped hair
Looks military
Dark blank stare
Wears a white
Tunic that flares
His slight waist.
