The hallways always have carpeting in these places, usually red -- the help has enough trouble with bodily fluids in the rooms. The faces are always the same: old men in laundry rooms, cleaning the only pair of pants they own, while they play with the Velcro on their shoes. Teenage girls with sunken eyes finger Coke machines as they rest the change on their distended bellies. I wonder if they follow us in some rusted Winnebago or if they stowaway in the bottom of the bus with the equipment and dirty laundry.
