What if I go blind? They told her you're just getting older, there's nothing wrong with you. But sometimes she would stand in the windowless bathroom with the light off. Is it like this? And then while lying in bed at night, eyes closed. Like this? She tried to make herself breakfast without looking but ended up unsuccessful and embarrassed.
One night when she and her boyfriend were in bed she tied a scarf around her eyes. Things felt differently then. Is it like this, she said without the lilt of a question in her voice, is it like this, like this.
