An Interview with Mickey Spillane

In the early 1980's, I met Mickey Spillane at his home in Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina and asked him about the blurb on the cover of John D. MacDonald's 1952 paperback original, The Damned. Across the book's cover is the quote, "I Wish I Had Written This Book" --Mickey Spillane.


Harris: Did you really say that?

Spillane: They paid me $500, so I said it.

We laughed and drank Miller Lite.
